Patient Testimonials

I had my upper right wisdom tooth extracted this morning and the staff and doctor were exceptionally wonderful. Delanie prepped me and Dr. Lee did the extraction and had me in and out in under 45mins. My appt was at 830, I was numbed by 845 and by 855 I was coming resting comfortably with one less tooth! I'm typically scared of any type of oral pain but Dr. Lee made sure I was numb and Delanie made sure the laughing gas kept me calm and comfortable. The tooth was huge! They've already called to check on me and overall both the practice and staff are welcoming and hospitable. I've already raved so much about the care that I've received from them to my husband that he's going to let them take care of his wisdom teeth! I could not reccomend them enough!

This is in reference to the Suffolk location.

I have been trying years to get my wisdom teeth out, but I’ve always been scared. I was referred to one dentist however he only provided numbing medicine and I wanted to be put to sleep. So eventually I was referred to Goodove. First visit was hard for me because I get anxiety so I had to reschedule. Finally came back and was able to have a relaxing conversation with Dr. Berry. My appointment was yesterday and it was over in 30 minutes. I still had effects of the anesthesia up to 6 hours later, but it was a very pleasant and painless experience. Even post-op I was not in pain.

Dr. Goodove and his staff were amazing from start to finish. My daughter had a great experience while getting her wisdom teeth pulled, and continues to heal nicely. I will definitely take my other daughters to Dr. Goodove when the time comes for them to get their wisdom teeth removed. Would highly recommend Goodove Oral Surgery!

Had a crown on a tooth with a fractured root. Needed to have the remainder of the tooth/root extracted ASAP. Was able to get an appointed the next morning!! Went in, after consulting with the staff and DR, was able to leave with the extraction complete and implant started!! Was extremely happy with their professionalism, expertise and, as a self pay patient, their price! I am very happy I chose Goodove Oral Surgery & Dental Implants!!

After Tooth Extraction

After tooth extraction, its important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That’s why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing still persists, place another gauze pad and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.

After the blood clot forms, it is important not to disturb or dislodge the clot as it aids healing. Do not rinse vigorously, suck on straws, smoke, drink alcohol or brush teeth next to the extraction site for 72 hours. These activities will dislodge or dissolve the clot and retard the healing process. Limit vigorous exercise for the next 24 hours as this will increase blood pressure and may cause more bleeding from the extraction site.

After the tooth is extracted you may feel some pain and experience some swelling. An ice pack or an unopened bag of frozen peas or corn applied to the area will keep swelling to a minimum. Take pain medications as prescribed. The swelling usually subsides after 48 hours.

Use the pain medication as directed. Call the office if the medication doesn’t seem to be working. If antibiotics are prescribed, continue to take them for the indicated length of time, even if signs and symptoms of infection are gone. Drink lots of fluid and eat nutritious soft food on the day of the extraction. You can eat normally as soon as you are comfortable.

It is important to resume your normal dental routine after 24 hours. This should include brushing and flossing your teeth at least once a day. This will speed healing and help keep your mouth fresh and clean.

After a few days you will feel fine and can resume your normal activities. If you have heavy bleeding, severe pain, continued swelling for 2-3 days, or a reaction to the medication, call our office immediately at (757) 412-2002.
