ATTENTION VA BEACH PATIENTS:
Our new location is 837 First Colonial Road, VA Beach, VA 23451

When choosing an oral surgeon, you are making a decision about more than a procedure. You are choosing a care team, a philosophy, and a relationship that will guide you through some of the most significant health decisions of your life. Finding the right practice means finding people who genuinely care about your outcome, your comfort, and your long-term wellbeing.

At Goodove Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, we believe oral surgery should feel personal. Serving Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and the surrounding Hampton Roads communities, we have built a practice rooted in one simple idea: your neighbors deserve the same level of care and connection that used to define medicine before it went corporate. From your first consultation to your final follow-up, our team is committed to making every step of your experience feel thoughtful, transparent, and as comfortable as possible.

Meet Our Oral Surgeons

Our practice is led by two board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons whose training, backgrounds, and dedication to patients represent the best this specialty has to offer. Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires a minimum of four years of hospital-based residency training after dental school, covering everything from anesthesia to complex jaw reconstruction, as outlined by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Both of our surgeons completed this rigorous pathway and have spent their careers putting that knowledge to work for patients in our community.

Dr. Scott R. Goodove, DDS

Dr. Scott Goodove is a Virginia Beach native in the truest sense. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University before completing his oral surgery residency at Seton Hall University. He then returned home to build his practice and serve the community he grew up in.

Dr. Goodove has a particular passion for caring for local teens and young adults, especially when it comes to wisdom teeth removal. He takes real pride in earning the trust of families who rely on him to provide a safe, comfortable experience for their children.

Outside the office, he enjoys surfing, aviation, hiking, and playing guitar. He lives in Virginia Beach with his wife, Amy, and their two children, Ella and Drew.

Dr. Peter Zagursky, DDS

Dr. Peter Zagursky brings a distinctive background to our team. A graduate of Temple University and Temple University Dental School, Dr. Zagursky completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington.

He went on to serve in the U.S. Army for over 21 years, retiring as a Colonel. In 2003, he was deployed to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The discipline, precision, and deep commitment to patient welfare he developed through military service now benefit every patient who walks through our doors.

Dr. Zagursky’s background working with diverse patient populations makes him an invaluable part of this team.

Our Services

Together, Dr. Goodove and Dr. Zagursky provide a full scope of oral and maxillofacial care to patients across the Hampton Roads region. From straightforward extractions to complex reconstructive procedures, our team manages a wide variety of concerns related to the teeth, mouth, jaw, and facial region. Here is a look at what we offer:

  • Dental implants: Permanent, natural-looking tooth replacement solutions designed to restore both function and confidence.
  • Wisdom teeth removal: Safe, comfortable extraction for impacted or problematic third molars, including a special focus on teens and young adults.
  • Bone grafting: Advanced techniques to rebuild jawbone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.
  • Oral pathology: Diagnosis and treatment of abnormal tissue changes in and around the mouth.
  • Corrective jaw surgery: Orthognathic procedures to restore proper jaw alignment and function.
  • Facial trauma: Surgical management of injuries to the face, jaw, and surrounding structures.
  • Cone beam CT imaging: State-of-the-art imaging for precision treatment planning.

Beyond these core services, our surgeons hold operating privileges at several local hospital facilities, including Virginia Beach Ambulatory Surgery Center and Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. This means patients who require extra medical or anesthetic support for complex procedures have access to the full resources those settings provide.

Our Approach to Care

What truly sets this practice apart is its character. While many oral surgery groups across the region have been absorbed into larger corporate networks, we have remained an independent, community-based practice. That independence matters because it means our decisions are always centered on our patients, not on productivity benchmarks or investor expectations.

Our surgical staff reflects that same commitment. Every team member is CPR certified and trained to assist with IV sedation in our state-of-the-art office setting. We keep patients closely monitored during and after every procedure, and we approach comfort as a genuine priority rather than a talking point. Whether that looks like a warm blanket, a hand to hold, or permission to listen to your favorite music during a procedure, we mean it when we say we go the extra step. We also offer convenient access to patient information and resources to help you feel prepared before you ever sit in the chair.
